If you have an older Honda in the rust belt, you should probably check the condition of the rear bumper. I’d wager it’s pretty rusted. The rear bumper on my 2003 Honda Pilot was rusted beyond repair and required replacement. In this video I walk you through the replacement of the rear bumper on a first generation Pilot as well as the removal of the trailer hitch.
Be warned, corrosion and rust can make this job a real challenge as you’ll see in the video.
Thanks for watching!

Excellent video Eric. Really loving the Pilot series!!
12:46 ah jez haha, man that thing is rusty
I have an 06 pilot with 250k on it… one tap and all the rust just falls from the bumper. Crazy
i hate rust,anyway good job.
Looks awesome Eric. Good jobðŸ‘ÂÂ
Saltwater . Used for trailering boat to boat ramp
Enjoyed ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸ‘ÂÂ
This thing looks like it was salvaged from its watery graveyard.
Here in the UK Honda Pilots were an off road buggy thing from the 90's 🙂
Enjoying the series!
Like my old man always said, it can’t be stuck if it’s liquid. The gas axe is a very useful tool on old rusty fasteners.
Saw the video pop up, saw it was 24min long. Thought to myself, how is this man going to make a bumper removal video 24min long? Rust…..that's all you need to say. Thank you for yet another entertaining and informative video!
You need to get Benny "Mechanical Stig" from Mighty Car Mods, he seems to just walk by bumpers and they must be afraid of him or something because they just fall off the car when he grabs them.
2:40 Well, Eric's pull out game is strong! 🤣
Back in the day working underneath my car in the yard under a shade tree I got rust in my ear got a bad infection just so you know you need more than goggles also ear plugs ..00
Ah, the typical quick "While I am in there" kinda deal. Been there, done that. 😉
Good old Rusty Bumper. I knew him well
Man Honda rusts as bad as General Motors

Still the #1 car guy; still the best on YouTube. 👌
the bumper falling onto the floor was great….. good to here you laughing 😂… BUT I WAS NOT READY FOR WHEN YOU SAID YOU HAD "MAN GLITTER" …GOOD THING I HAD ALREADY SWALLOWED MY SWEET TEA OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL OVER MY LAPTOP…HAHAHAHA!!! love these vid's as you say….. stay safe and stay dirty!!!!!
Videos from this series make me so happy that I traded off my 2003 highlander. Loving my outback!
for too many redundant bolts and screws on bumper. I think you should did the top 2 and side butt up pieces but only the one in the middle under the back. rust is always a pain
How to have a fun day: use a die grinder wearing sandals!
The way used vehicle prices are trending by the time Eric is done with this he could probably sell it for a cool $30k.
You didn't get the update memo that all first gen pilot taillights are junk??? LoL 😆Oh that's right, you worked at the upsell Honda dealer……
Damn that's a lot of cancer back there. Oil spray, oil spray, oil spray…
Just needs some Rusteez medicated bumper ointment
that element is lucky to have that work done to it
Look like fun
you need to push fluid film ,,that is a mess…you can make good money just doing that,,,,all my winter cars get it,,
Rusty bumper was my nickname in high school.
Can't be tight if its liquid.
Good luck ðŸ‘ÂÂ
Ohio needs to ditch the road salt.
