Very Helpful . Thanks for sharing & great commentary !
I'm not a fan of headers. In my opinion, melting everything under the hood, burning plug wires, overheating the starter and taking up a ton of space is just not worth the extra horsepower.
bad idea
I feel your pain! Thanks for the video.
I tried this 2 years ago on my header. Very similar frustrations the whole way. The stainless steel retainers were a disappointment as well.
Professional Hot Rod Show…
We'll go to commercial and be right back. (Project done and perfect)
Erik…
F#$I it, I'll use the whole roll…
(Completes the wrap as it always happens)
Great and Realistic Video!
Would it be redundant to wrap headers that are ceramic coated or would that be twice as smart???
A line of super glue about 1/8 inch wide across the width of the wrap will prevent the unraveling. Just cut in the middle of the line of super glue after it dries. This will stop both cut ends from fraying if your glue line is wide enough.
do not , i did , and header melted at the junction 4-1, strips got rusted and burned , titanium wrap (1400cdeg)fall apart after few years, useless job, on lower part, tubes rusted because salt from street accumulated in wrap and ate stainless steel304
the first step in the instructions for the wrap I bought (Ledaut Brand) says, and I quote, "Protective eyewear and gloves recommended avoid inhalation (Of Loose Fibers)." ðŸ¤â€Â🤣🤣🤣🤣 Umm, 😷 maybe? lol.
I got a header ordered for my car that’s made out of all stainless and doesn’t have provisions to bolt the stock heat shielding back on. I originally wasn’t gonna wrap it but after watching this I feel like it’s gonna look pretty cool and probably be beneficial to add
Does this make your hands itchy if you don’t wear gloves?
exhaust wraps are the header manufacturer's best sales person
1:37 just keep pressing the time stamp. 😀
I seen the problem it's a Ford
What about the rusting of the manifold headers? How can this be addressed?
You should never wrap your hedders! Plus it avoids your warranty! And the life of your hedders!
Does anyone else think he modestly did that mess up on purpose as to teach and not just screw up…
thin metal with boost and heat we will have crispy header
Nice!!
proper man!
Can I use this on an flex pipe with an exhaust leak ?
Third times the charm 😂
"How To", in which you fumble and experiment. We haven't learned much.
Too much overlap on the first primary, Eric.
Tie a knot to stop it from unraveling
I installed it on my rv and immediately did a temperature check. I read 500 degrees on the covered side and 500 on the unwrapped side. Not impressed.
Waste of time. 😡
Looks great
That did not look fun at all.
So this is the guy you ship your headers to along with the wrap. He ships them back the next day.
Mark Time 🕢
It's been (3) years and I would be interested in the condition of the headers (under wraps). I had read years ago that wrapping mild steel ACCELERATED the rusting (rot) process, as the wrap goes through its wet/dry cycles, combined with additional heating. SS is wrappable supposedly without the downsides. Does make a bit of sense IMHO. Standing by ðŸ¤â€â€
