17. In May 1998, I nearly DIED in the Ohiopyle River. These tour companies promote these whitewater rafting trips as being harmless fun and they are DANGEROUS. All of us fell into the river. As the water pulled me along (as I was underwater in the process of drowing), I could feel my body whizzing past underwater rocks and boulders. I could have smashed my head/spine/ribcage against a rock SO easily. It is a miracle we all made it out of there without serious injury. I will never raft again!!!
